Aftercare & Healing.
Healing GuideGood aftercare is what turns a fresh tattoo or piercing into one that heals clean and looks sharp for years. Follow the steps below for whichever you've just had done.
Tattoo Aftercare
Wash gently
Wash the tattoo gently with warm running water and a mild, fragrance-free soap. Pat dry — don't rub.
Moisturise
Apply your recommended aftercare product 2–3 times daily. Use a thin layer — over-moisturising can slow healing.
Leave it alone
Do not pick or scratch the scab off. Picking risks pulling out ink and inviting infection.
Avoid soaking & UV
Avoid swimming, sun beds and saunas while your tattoo is healing.
Wear loose clothing
Loose clothing over the area prevents friction and irritation while it heals.
Piercing Aftercare
Clean with saline
Rinse or soak the piercing with a sterile saline solution 1–2 times daily. Avoid strong soaps, alcohol or antibacterial ointments unless your piercer says otherwise.
Wash your hands first
Always wash your hands before touching a fresh piercing or its jewellery.
Don't rotate the jewellery
Leave the jewellery alone while it heals — twisting or rotating it can irritate the piercing and slow healing, despite the old advice to the contrary.
Avoid submerging it
Stay out of pools, hot tubs and open water until fully healed.
Watch for infection
Excess redness, swelling, discharge, or fever aren't normal — get in touch with us or a medical professional if you're concerned.
Be patient
Healing time varies a lot by placement — anywhere from a few weeks to over a year for some cartilage piercings.
This is standard piercing aftercare guidance. Always follow any specific instructions your piercer gives you at your appointment first.
